HackED! at ACEP23
A collaborative national innovation challenge and hackathon presented in conjunction with ACEP and StEMI X!
At HackED 2023, participants developed and enhanced their skills during the virtual design speaker series before showcasing their work at the in-person pitch competition during the ACEP Scientific Assembly in Philadelphia. The competition might have concluded, but you can still view the recordings of our Design Speaker Series and Deep Dive Series in our member portal!
In the summer of 2023, teams were formed to dive into a workshop series that culminated into a 3-day live event during Scientific Assembly 2023, October 9-11, 2023 in Philadelphia, PA. Participants presented their solutions on the Innovation Stage in the exhibit hall October 11, 2023 during the pitch competition.

Innovation Challenge
In 2023, ACEP and EMIC collaborated to bring new opportunities for participants. The Innovation Challenge offered participants that are new to emergency medicine innovation or those that have a unique idea an opportunity to build and design innovative models that address the question: “How might you improve acute care in terms of experience, outcomes, or cost?” End product for the Innovation Challenge was a refined idea with a pitch deck that was presented during the pitch competition.
Hackathon
The Hackathon track focused on a single use case: Hospital at Home. Participants/teams worked to build an end-to-end solution that provided a unique solution to implement a hospital at home program. Hackathon participants had access to digital tools and data to support the development of their products. Teams began designing/building as soon as the teams were formed. All hackathon teams presented their products through a demo/pitch deck competition on the final day of the competition.
